Why it lands at the table
Feed the Kraken is a hidden role game for a big table. Each player is secretly a sailor, a pirate or a cult member, and each side wants the ship to reach a different place.
The captain chooses officers, the officers choose the course from hidden cards, and the rest of the crew watches, argues and decides whether to trust them. If they do not, there is a mutiny, settled by everyone opening a fist of guns at once.
It plays five to eleven people in about an hour and the moments that last are social ones: an accusation that turns out right, a captain thrown overboard, or the cult leader quietly fed to the kraken.
How it plays
- 01
Everyone receives a secret role: sailor, pirate or cult.
- 02
The captain picks a lieutenant and a navigator; the crew may mutiny.
- 03
Captain and lieutenant each pass on a hidden navigation card; the navigator chooses the course.
- 04
Officers gain actions as the ship moves; players can be flogged, thrown overboard or converted.
- 05
A side wins when the ship reaches its destination, or the cult by feeding its leader to the kraken.
