How a table comes together

  1. Pick a game from the shelf.

  2. Open a table at an evening, or join one.

  3. Once enough players join, it goes ahead. The host runs tables alongside.

How it worksOpening and joining need a member login. Login is not live yet.
The shelf

A few games from the shelf.

Territory, armies and duels, and a few quick ones for the end of the evening.

The club

A small, private club for serious board games. You choose the game. You open a table, or take a seat at one. The host sets up, teaches, and keeps the evening moving. Everything is played in English, in a good room by the sea.

i.The idea

You come for the game. Everything else is ready.

The best strategy games rarely reach a table. Someone has to own them, learn them, set out the pieces and find the right opponents. The club does that part. You arrive, sit down and play.

What it is

  • A small tableUsually three to six players, two for a duel. Close enough to talk across.
  • A serious game, ready when you arrivePieces counted, cards sleeved, rules taught by someone who knows them.
  • A room worth the driveA five-star hotel or a seafront restaurant with a proper kitchen.

What it is not

  • A board game caféNo shop and nothing for sale. The shelf is the owner's private collection.
  • A lending libraryGames never go home with players. They arrive with the host and leave with the host.
  • An open meetupNo crowded hall and no drop-in. A few small tables in a quiet corner.

ii.Who it is for

For people who moved to the coast and still want a proper game.

Expats and people who settled here from abroad, mostly over thirty. People who want an evening with some weight to it: a game worth thinking about, good company, and a room that does both justice.

Play is in English, always. Spanish friends who play comfortably in English take a seat like anyone else.

You will sit with people from many countries and lines of work, and some conversations carry on after the game. That is a side effect. The game is the reason to come.

3–6players at most tables. Small on purpose.
2 a monthevenings. The first in Marbella, the second in Estepona. More often only if the list is long.
131base games on the shelf, 169 boxes in all. Ten of them are still on their way.
0games lent out. Every box arrives with the host and leaves with the host.
