Why a board game club, and why here.
The Costa del Sol has a large community of people who moved here from abroad. For anyone who played serious board games before moving, the table, the people and the shelf rarely come along.
The problem
Long strategy games ask for a lot before the first move. Someone has to own the game, learn the rules, set out the pieces and find two or three others who will stay until the end. Cafés are loud, flats are small, and drop-in game nights tend to favour short games.
The idea
A members’ club that takes care of that part. A catalogued shelf of strategy games, small tables of three to six, a host who knows the game, and a calm room. Members choose a game and an evening in the members app; the table is ready when they arrive.
How it works
The full picture, from opening a table to the house rules, is on How it works and in the questions.
What exists today
- The shelf: 183 items, each with BoardGameGeek data.
- The rules: house rules, guests and cancellations, written down.
- The members app: booking, results, rankings and tournaments.
- Privacy: no tracking cookies and no analytics. See the privacy notice.
What does not exist yet
Dates, venues and prices are not set. The club is a concept with an open list, and it will stay honest about that until the first evening. Prices are shared with the list before the club opens.
