Why it lands at the table
This is an army for A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game by CMON, a rank-and-file battle game set in George R. R. Martin's Westeros. The Free Folk are the people beyond the Wall: raiders, trappers and giants, under leaders such as Mance Rayder and Tormund.
Battles are fought with blocks of miniatures moving and fighting in formation, with units activated one at a time in alternation and each faction having its own deck of tactics cards. The Free Folk play as a horde: many bodies and a lot of pressure.
The owner's catalogue lists the army without full contents, so a table is arranged with the host, who confirms what is in the box.
How it plays
- 01
Each player brings an army of units and commanders.
- 02
Players take turns activating one unit at a time: march, charge, attack or rally.
- 03
Play tactics cards from your faction deck at key moments.
- 04
Attack with dice; units lose ranks and may panic.
- 05
Win the scenario's objectives or break the enemy army.
Good for
