Why it lands at the table
Jaipur is a two-player card game. You are traders in the market of Jaipur, buying and selling cloth, spice, leather, silver, gold and diamonds, hoping to be invited to the Maharaja's court.
Each turn you either take cards or sell them, never both. Selling early gets the best prices, selling in sets earns bonuses, and camels let you sweep the market but leave goods behind for your opponent. It is fast, and every choice gives something away.
A round takes ten minutes. The remembered moment is a large sale timed just before the other player could cash in, and the best of three rounds keeps both people at the table.
How it plays
- 01
The market shows five cards; each player holds up to seven, with camels kept apart.
- 02
On your turn, take goods or camels from the market, or sell one type of good.
- 03
Sell more cards at once for a bonus token; precious goods need at least two.
- 04
A round ends when three goods piles run out or the deck is empty.
- 05
The richer merchant wins the round; two rounds win the game.
